A selection of the world's finest coffees
Coffee has become almost as popular as tea in many parts of the world.
Coffee is produced from the seeds of species of Coffea, a genus of Rubiaceae. There are about sixty species of Coffea - all are evergreen shrubs or small trees originally found in the rainforests of sub-tropical Africa.
For their cultivation, coffee trees require a hot, moist climate with a good rainfall.
Although originating in Africa, coffee trees are now grown over wide areas of the New World.
The best quality coffee is produced from Coffea arabica, and it is this species that supplies most of the world's consumed coffee.
The seeds are harvested and separated, polished, then packed for export.
The seeds must be roasted and ground before the beverage can be extracted, and to ensure freshness, this process is usually left until the drink is ready for consumption.
At In Xanadu, we sell a range of the world's best coffees.
